100 Pennsylvania Avenue  (c.1888) 

This classic Queen Anne Victorian was the residence of Evangeline Booth (from 1906 to 1908), founder of the Salvation Army in the United States. Booth was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal for WW I canteens featuring "doughnuts for doughoys", as well as for her many other social service activities.

The noted architect Stanford White accepted commissions to design several Crestwood homes, including number 227 Read Avenue, with its interesting stone-arched entry.
