Pendray House (c.1929) - 491 Westchester Avenue

This twenties Tudor Revival belonged to Dr. G. Edward Pendray the famed "Rocket Man of Crestwood." Pendray  and his wife Leatrice were founding members of the American Rocket Society. In 1932 Pendray and fellow Society member H.F. Pierce designed the first liquid fuel rocket. Some old-timers remember the many experiments in rocketry the group conducted in what is now Schultze Field. Pendray served as a consultant for NASA in the 1960’s
