HISTORY
Pillars of
Yonkers (1951), Frank L. Walton - This book contains
history of entire Aquehung area including what is now Crestwood.
Good coverage of Asbury Church, Crestwood during Revolution,
etc. Considerable research on historic natural landmarks (ie
Trees, Rocks, etc.). Very informative.
Yonkers Through The
Years (1961) - Johnson, Lawson, Reilly, Spencer, Tibult,
Webster. Published by the Yonkers Board of Education with a generous
donation from the Peoples Savings Bank of Yonkers. Contains details
of Revolutionary War period. Washington, Generals Lee and Stirling
and the Colonial Heights (then Tuckahoe Hills) encampment. Also
mentions Washington's march to White Plains via Scarsdale
Road.
